We distribute and collect goods from anywhere in the UK, this can range from 1 pallet to 50 with the use of our modern, economical and reliable fleet of vehicles.

Our fleet consists of 36 trucks all together. Eight are articulated trucks and twenty four 18 ton rigids and either box or taut liners. A large part of our fleet have 1.5 ton tail lifts so we can handle most loads. Also, an alternative way of offloading our vehicles by using one of our ten vehicle mounted forklifts. Our fleet is kept up to date and maintained to a very high standard of reliability by main agents.

We offer direct delivery and haulage services, storage and distribution on a very wide range of goods and can operate on a one-off or short and long term contract basis. We are always interested in full return loads to our home area of Swindon & North Wiltshire.

OUR HISTORY
LES SMITH HAULAGE LTD is one of the largest independent haulage company’s in Swindon. Started by it’s founder Les in 1975 it is now a well respected local firm and still run today by his sons Tony, Danny and Nick.
Small beginnings: Les came to Swindon from London in 1965 eventually working as a coalman for the Gorse Hill firm of Stallards. When they closed the haulage side of their business it created an opportunity for Les to start up on his own with one of their redundant trucks. Les’s reputation for straight dealing and meeting his promises soon paid off and the business slowly grew with an increasing number of local firms depending on Les Smith Haulage for the reliable delivery of their goods.
An expanding fleet was carefully maintained and developed until today when Les Smith now operates 45 modern trucks and delivers to all corners of the UK mainland for many of Swindon’s most prominent firms. The company owns all it’s own trucks and employ their own drivers.
Reliability, quality and dependability have always been the company’s watchwords. Les Smith Haulage undertakes direct deliveries on a one-off, short or long term contract basis and can handle most items small or large. They cover the whole of the UK mainland.
SITE SECURITY
All Les Smith Haulage LTD yards have high levels of security controls in place. The yards have security systems that are not only alarmed but camera monitored by off site security contractors 24hours a day every day of the year who have direct links with the Police. Les Smith Haulage LTD management have access to camera’s at all times. Yards are examined by customers regularly to meet customers insurance / audit obligations for storage contracts. Only selected staff have access to secure buildings and offices. All buildings are again monitored by off site security and the Police. Warehouses have speed shutter doors allowing quick, safe access to forklifts ensuring weather elements and pest control measures are in place.
